Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026  |  Applies to: accwire.com

AccWire (accwire.com) is your trusted source for accounting news, auditing, taxation, ESG reporting, financial disclosures, and business insights. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over your information.

1. Who we are

AccWire is an independent accounting and finance publication at https://www.accwire.com. We publish news, analysis, and insights covering accounting standards, tax policy, ESG reporting, auditing, and financial disclosures for finance professionals, CPAs, and business leaders. For privacy enquiries: contact@accwire.com

2. Data we collect

We collect only the information necessary to operate this publication:

  • Browsing data — pages visited, referral source, browser type, device type, and approximate location (city/country level), collected via Google Analytics.
  • Comment data — if you leave a comment: your name, email address, website URL, and IP address for spam detection.
  • Contact or enquiry data — if you contact us directly, we retain your email address and message content to respond.
  • Technical data — server logs record IP addresses, request timestamps, and response codes, retained for up to 30 days for security purposes.

We do not collect payment information. We do not sell your personal data.

3. Cookies and tracking

AccWire uses cookies to operate the site and understand readership. Here is what we set:

Essential cookies

Required for the site to function — session identifiers, security tokens, and WordPress login cookies for registered users. You cannot opt out of essential cookies without disabling site functionality.

Analytics cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand traffic patterns and popular content in aggregate. GA4 sets cookies prefixed with _ga. This data is anonymized and does not identify you personally. Opt out via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Advertising cookies

AccWire may display Google Ads or AdSense advertising. Google may set cookies to serve relevant ads based on your browsing history on this and other sites. Manage ad personalization at adssettings.google.com.

Comment cookies

If you leave a comment and opt in, we store your name, email, and website in cookies for one year so you do not need to re-enter them on subsequent visits.

4. Google services (Analytics and Ads)

AccWire uses the following Google services:

  • Google Analytics 4 — measures readership and content performance. We have enabled IP anonymization. Data is processed under Google’s Data Processing Terms.
  • Google Search Console — aggregate search performance data to improve content. No personally identifiable data is shared with us.
  • Google Ads / AdSense — AccWire may display advertisements served by Google. Google’s advertising practices are described in Google’s advertising policies.

Opt out of personalized Google advertising at Google Ad Settings or via aboutads.info.

5. Comments

When you submit a comment, we collect your name, email address, website URL (optional), comment text, IP address, and browser user agent to detect spam and display your approved comment publicly. An anonymized hash of your email may be sent to Gravatar — see Automattic’s privacy policy. Approved comments are retained indefinitely. Request deletion at contact@accwire.com.

6. Media uploads

Contributors uploading images should remove embedded GPS or EXIF location data before uploading. Visitors can download publicly visible images and extract any metadata they contain. AccWire is not responsible for location data embedded by contributors.

7. Embedded content from other websites

AccWire articles may include embedded content — videos, social media posts, charts — from third-party platforms. Embedded content behaves as if you visited those platforms directly. Those platforms may set cookies, collect data, and monitor your interactions according to their own privacy policies.

8. Who we share data with

AccWire does not sell or rent your personal data. We share data only with:

  • Service providers — web host, email, and spam-detection services operating under data processing agreements.
  • Google — analytics and advertising data as described in Section 4.
  • Spam detection — comment content and metadata may be processed by Akismet or a comparable service.
  • Legal requirements — if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of AccWire or its readers.

If you request a password reset, your IP address is included in the reset email.

9. How long we retain data

  • Comments: retained indefinitely unless you request deletion.
  • Server logs: retained for up to 30 days.
  • Analytics data: retained in Google Analytics for 14 months.
  • Registered user data: retained while the account is active; deleted on written request unless retention is required for legal or security reasons.

10. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to opt out of advertising personalization. Readers in the European Economic Area have rights under the GDPR. Readers in Canada have rights under PIPEDA. To exercise any of these rights, contact contact@accwire.com. We respond within 30 days.
